Walking Group 6 – Exploring the Elizabeth Line

This new group will run on the 4th Friday of the month starting on 22 May 2026 and cover about 6 miles. The new convenor is Ramblers leader Marion Watkinson assisted by David Hayward.

Hanwell to Hangar Hill is our first outing starting at Hanwell and following the capital ring initially with lunch at the Myllet Arms carvery off the A40 in Perivale at 12.30ish.

Members who do not already belong to a U3A walking group are encouraged to join up asap as numbers are restricted to 14. Existing walkers willing to lead future walks will also receive priority with the emphasis on starting from an Elizabeth line station, a moderate pace of 2.5 miles per hour and a willingness to point out occasional historical features encouraging group synergy and discussion.

Lunch stops at pubs or cafes are included with sufficient time to relax with a view to promoting group cohesion and a finish around 3pm.

No dogs – unless assistance dogs.

Future walks could also include the Capital Ring using our Freedom Pass and the London Loop which might require a Senior railcard for 1/3 off rail fares for extensions beyond Zone 6 in the summertime.
