Poetry Appreciation group

We meet on the third Monday each month in the Rose and Crown, South Ealing. Last year we discussed poetry in translation; poems by Shakespeare, Baudelaire, Seamus Heaney, Alice Oswald, Ted Hughes, WB Yeats and Emily Dickinson. In January 2026 we enjoyed the 'Beat Poets ' and we are currently alternating modern poets with earlier ones. John Donne was chosen for February, Carol Ann Duffy for March and John Keats for April.  There was no meeting in May as the 3rd Monday coincided with the Ealing u3a holiday to Potters Resort, Hopton-on Sea; the 1st Monday clashes with the Shakespeare Plays group, which some of our group attend; and the other 2 were bank holidays. We enjoyed sharing poems by Billy Collins in the garden in June and chose Tennyson for July.
