We are currently running hybrid meetings with some members present at a venue in the South Ealing area and others on Zoom. Meetings are held on the last Friday of the month starting at 11.00am.
Family History group
We are currently running hybrid meetings with some members present at a venue in the Northfields area and others on Zoom. Meetings are held on the last Friday of the month starting at 11.00am. There is the possibility to stay for lunch after the meeting.
The Group was first formed in 2004 with members interested in finding out about their families and their history; there is no waiting list, you can be a complete novice or someone who can help others.
Members decide on topics for the following meeting. These may be topics relating to their own personal family history or more generic events which may have had an impact on members’ families at various times. Members may contribute short articles or listen to the others, depending on the relevance of the topic to their own circumstances. As this is quite a large group, topics often carry over to the following month.
From time to time the topic of “brick walls” is discussed, particularly if members wish to get assistance from the others. We also look at online resources and members will suggest websites that they have found helpful.
The group is currently researching WWI names on the Ealing War Memorial (Pitzhanger Manor) as a project to be made available online at some stage.
From time to time visits to external archives or places of interest are arranged.
NB The Family History Group is able to offer one-to-one introductions to members who wish to start researching their family tree but do not know where to start. These would be arranged at times to suit both the member and instructor. If you wish to take this up, please contact Sue via the Group email link above.
