ART APPRECIATION

This group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month starting at 10:30 am at a Members home.

About 21 years ago this group was started, and has been a continual source of enlightenment to its members, 2 of the original group still taking an active part . The original aims of U3A were that members should learn from each other and the premise behind our meetings has always been that every member has something valid to say about the subject under discussion, however much background knowledge of the subject they might have.

The pattern for our meetings has always been that a subject is chosen by the group, and that each member then introduces something related to the subject at a meeting. Sometimes these have been backed up with video films related to the subject as well as the material brought by the member talking that session. Over the years our subjects have covered so many aspects of Art History, Renaissance, Victorian Art, Impressionists, sculpture, landscapes , portraits, Dutch still life, Australian artists, American artists, Russian artists, women artists. I could continue, but I'll leave it there, You think of a period, we've looked at it. Not surprisingly we often repeat a subject, and in fact the subject for the coming year is landscapes.

Over the years it has really been a great source of enjoyment and enlightenment. Long may we continue.
